Pernem MLA Pravin Arlekar on Thursday inspected the garbage disposal project of the Pernem Municipal Council (PMC), which was constructed at the cost of Rs 3.75 crore and inaugurated in 2013, but is yet to be commissioned.
Arlekar later instructed the municipal council to expedite the balance work on the project, so that it can be put to use.
The MLA visited the site along with Pernem Municipal Council Chairperson Madhav Sinai Desai, Trupti Sawal Desai, Shivram Tukoji, Vishnu Salgaonkar, Vishakha Gadekar, Usha Nagvenkar, Rakhi Kashalkar and Sanjay Palayekar.
When Arlekar asked the council for reasons why the project was yet to be commissioned, the PMC chairperson said they have contacted the Directorate of Municipal Administration regarding implementation of the project.
The MLA assured the locals that he would make efforts to complete project as soon as possible.
The garbage project has been embroiled in controversy and till date, no garbage has been processed at the project.
