MMC employees anxiously await DPC outcome

MARGAO

Anxious Margao Municipal Council employees and workers are keeping their fingers crossed as the office of the Director of Municipal Administration is yet to unveil the names of the staff and

workers, who stands promoted following the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) exercise.

It will be a month now since the DPC was held in the office of the Municipal Chairperson Babita Prabhudesai in the presence of Chief Officer Johnson Fernandes and Additional Director of Municipal Administration Triveni Velip.

Prudence demanded that the DMA’s office unveil the list of the promotees without much delay. Sources in the know, however, said that it may take another month to finalise the list of departmental promotes given that the Additional DMA Triveni Velip is out of town since she is attending a 45-day long specialized training in administration.

In view of the delay in unveiling the list of departmental promotes, many an employee and worker has been keeping their fingers crossed since the DPC has taken place after a long time, with the delay denying many an employee and worker the promotional avenues.

In fact, information gathered by The Goan revealed that the DPC was twice postponed in the past before the present Council took charge of office in 2015 following the controversy surrounding the holding of the meeting and reports that certain vested interests were hell bent in pushing their candidates by disregarding the established principles of seniority.

When The Goan contacted CO Johnson Fernandes, he said the proceedings of the DPC were held in camera and the recommendations cannot be made public before the DMA’s office takes a call on the matter.
