Admitting that the prolonged break in rainfall is beginning to affect marigold cultivation in Sattari, Sattari Zonal Agriculture Officer (ZAO) Vishwanath Gawas said his office is closely monitoring the situation.

“The lack of rain for nearly eight days has reduced soil moisture, while the increase in temperature could further stress the plants,” said Gawas.

He also cautioned that if the dry spell continues for several more days, other rain-dependent crops could also be affected.

“A prolonged rainfall deficit could ultimately have an impact on agricultural production, including marigold flower production,” he added.
