VASCO
Former minister Jose Philip D’Souza has demanded the resignation of Mormugao Municipal Council Chairperson Deepak Naik, after accusing him of the fiasco involving the missing ammonia file at the council meeting.
Addressing a news conference in the city along with along with Councillor Pascoal D’Souza and other supporters, D’Souza alleged that the ammonia file had were not misplaced, but had been deliberately kept in the storeroom to divert attention to the ammonia storage tank.
“Had the councillors not exerted pressure, Naik would have maintained that the file had been misplaced,” said D’Souza. “Documents in the ammonia file had shown that the occupancy for the storage tank was passed when Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida was the chairperson of MMC and the present MMC chairman Deepak Naik had then voted in favour of the ammonia storage tank.”
“The ammonia file was not misplaced, but was deliberately kept in the storeroom so that people of Vasco would not know who are the real people behind the ammonia storage tank. An important file goes missing and Naik himself admitted to the media that it was a matter of shame. If so, he must step down on moral grounds.”
