With fuel prices rising every day, motorists in Canacona now have to shell out Rs 102.67 per litre of petrol.
On Friday after the ninth fuel price hike in the last 10 days, petrol in Canacona was being sold at Rs 102.67 and diesel at Rs 93.56 per litre.
Even though the rates are rising on a daily basis, people have been resorting to panic buying of fuel amid fears that the price of fuel could surge in the days ahead.
Besides filling their tanks, many motorists are seen filling fuel in plastic cans/bottles ranging from 5 litres to 50 litres.
“The panic buying of fuel (petrol and diesel), where many people tend to stock it other than filing their vehicle tanks, is due to a fear of rates reaching as high as Rs 150 for a litre of petrol,” said a source at a petrol pump in Gulem-Canacona.
