Musical instruments damaged in fire

Musical instruments in a classroom housed on the third floor of Almeida High School in Ponda were gutted in a fire late Saturday evening.
According to reports, the fire services received a call at around 8 pm and one fire tender went to extinguish the fire.
“We have been told that there was an electrical short circuit in the classroom and hence, a fire broke out and destroyed the musical instruments,” a fire officer on the duty told The Goan.
“The staff at the school claimed to have suffered damages of around Rs 40,000 in the fire mishap,” the office added.
