Acknowledging the sentiments of the gram sabha members, Nachinola Panchayat on Sunday decided to act tough against locals who discharge waste water in public drains. The panchayat also decided to conduct a survey of all the public drains in its jurisdiction.
A local, Ritesh Kotwal, brought to the attention of the gram sabha that some residents of ward 6 were releasing their waste water in public drains causing nuisance to the residents residing in the surrounding.
Sarpanch, Trupti Bandodkar, informed the gram sabha that the panchayat had conducted a site inspection of the area and found at least eight persons releasing untreated water in the drains.
“We will serve show-cause notices to all the eight defaulters. We will also conduct a survey and inspect all drains within the jurisdiction of the panchayat,” Bandodkar said.
In another decision, the panchayat has assured to clean up all the wells within its jurisdiction so that whenever the public water supply is irregular, people can use well water.
Panchayat secretary, Clifton Azavedo informed the gram sabha members that henceforth the panchayat will not allow dumping of construction debris in open places or public roads.
He requested the locals not to dump debris in open places but instead contact the PWD (highway division) who would guide them where to dump the debris.
He warned that anyone found dumping debris in the open place or by the roadside will be fined.
The gram sabha also gave a go-ahead to the village development plan.
