The Directorate of Education on Friday in a circular said the new academic year will begin from June 6, 2022, just like the pre-pandemic schedule.
According to the circular issued by Director of Education Bhushan Sawaikar, the new academic year will commence in June just like the pre-pandemic schedule.
“All the heads of educational institutions in the State of Goa shall take note of the same and plan their activities accordingly during the ensuing year”, the circular reads.
The circular also states that the Heads of Schools are authorized to declare 10 discretionary holidays. Out of 10 discretionary holidays, the heads of school shall declare three discretionary holidays on 2, 3, 5 September 2022 for Ganesh Chaturthi festival and the remaining 7 days discretionary holidays are to be declared in consultation with Parents Teachers Association/Village Education Committee.
The total number of working days including examination days for primary, secondary and higher secondary school shall not be less than 220 days and total number of instructional days shall not be less than 200 days during the academic year 2022-23.
The School instructional hours shall not be less than 5 hours 30 minutes per day, exclusive of recess. Accordingly, the timing of the school is to be adjusted without altering the total number of periods, the circular states.
