He, however, ruled out the possibility of keeping the NH alignment before the public for suggestions and objections, saying that people’s representatives, including the ministers and MLAs have been briefed about the alignment report prepared by the consultant.
Speaking to The Goan on the sidelines of a function organised by the PWD Sports and Recreation Club at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, on Saturday, Dhavalikar said that the government will receive a detailed report within a week’s time from the National Highway Chief Engineer after the technical feasibility is completed.
“The PWD engineers are right now on the job preparing the technical feasibility report. I expect the report to come to me within a week’s time,” he said.
He replied in the negative when asked whether the highway alignment report will be place before the public, given the fact that the previous alignment had attracted strong criticism from the people. “I think the government will take care of the report. There is no need to keep the report before the public,” he said.
Replying to a question, the PWD Minister said there’s no need to send the alignment report to the Centre, saying the State government will take a call on the alignment. “Once the report and the alignment is accepted by the government, the State government will move the Centre to take up the project,” he added.
Replying to another question, Dhavalikar said there will be no problem of funds to execute the project.
