The government of Goa has decided to record the property details, along with the structures on it like flats, apartments identified assigning unique property identification numbers with the property owner's name.
The revenue department has prepared rules and has kept it for suggestions.
Presently, there is no centralized data about the land, its ownership and structures on it. Every department maintains individual records. In the future, the records will be maintained at one centralised location.
In the present draft of rules the land registration department will provide a form to collect details about the property. The form will have District, Taluka, Village, Chalta No, Sub-Division Chalta no, Square Meter area, House, building, flat number, Address. The concerned department has to upload digital documents as proof of property details.
The details about the property like whether it falls in areas such as CRZ, Forest or Town Planning department will be available with the unique property register.
The other departments have to fill in the additional details about the property updating through online mode. All the departments like the forest department, town and country planning, revenue, the environment will update details about the property from time to time.
The property register will also have details about mortgage, litigation about the property and this has to be updated from time to time by concerned departments.
The concept of the unique property identification number for each unit of the property will correspond to each Survey number and its subdivision and also the structures on it.
This property register system will help in the security of the property and avoid further frauds and litigations.
