One duped of Rs 27 lakh

PANAJI: Cyber cell of Goa Police, on Tuesday, registered a complaint against one Dave Brown for duping the complainant of Rs 27.75 lakh.

According to the complaint filed by Regina Alvares, the accused under the pretext of doing business with the complainant asked her to deposit the amount in a bank account.

Over Facebook, Brown told the complainant that he will send her UK pounds worth Rs 1 crore which will ease her business transactions.

But then she received a call allegedly from New Delhi airport authorities, who told her that the pounds were seized at New Delhi airport by customs.

She was asked to deposit Rs 27 lakh to release the pound currency in a bank account.

The cyber cell police station has registered the case under Section 66 D of IT Act.
