Political parties (both national and regional) collected a total of ` 37.29 crore in Goa during the 2017 assembly elections but spent only ` 14.01 crore during the elections, figures released by the Association for Democratic Reforms have revealed.
Among these national parties, the BJP, Congress, CPI and NCP collected a total of 31.61 crore, while recognized regional parties like the SHS, AAP and MGP collected a total of 5.68 crore.
At its State unit office, the BJP managed to shore up ` 16.77 crore with the Indian National Congress not far behind at ` 14.187 crore. The CPI and NCP have however raked in a relatively paltry ` 0.048 crore and ` 0.6 crore respectively.
Among ‘regional parties’ the AAP gathered ` 2.01 crore during the elections while the MGP gathered ` 3.52 crore.
When it comes to spending the money they have earned, the national and state parties have spent a total of 14.01 crore with the BJP claiming to have spent ` 3.26 crore, the Congress ` 7.87 crore, the NCP ` 0.528 crore and the CPI 0.044 crore.
The MGP spent ` 3.493 crore while the AAP spent ` 1.363 crore during the Goa elections.
According to the figures made known by the ADR, national and regional parties collected a total of `  1503.21 cr and incurred a total expenditure of ` 494.36 cr towards the five state Assembly elections held in 2017.
Total funds collected by the national parties during the five state Assembly Elections held in 2017 was ` 1314.29 cr and total expenditure incurred by the national parties was ` 328.66 cr. Based on the details provided, the regional parties collected a total of ` 188.92 cr and incurred an expenditure of ` 165.7 cr.
The ADR gathers its figures from the claims submitted by the respective political parties to the Election Commission of India.
