Operators stage 'bike' rally in Bardez

MAPUSA: A number of domestic and foreign tourists, especially in the coastal areas of Bardez taluka, had to face hardship after the tourist taxi operators went on a day-long strike on Monday.

The protest was peaceful and no untoward incident were reported throughout the day.

The protesting taxi owners and drivers staged a rally in their motorcycles from Calangute to Anjuna as a mark of their protest.

Passengers also faced difficulties at the Tivim railway station and had to depend on the bus services

As transport facilities were not available in Calangute, Baga and Candolim areas, tourists had to walk a considerable distance along with their luggage, before availing of some other transport to reach their destinations.
