Orlim villagers on Tuesday got down to serious business of re-drafting the Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) for the village.
Two days after the Orlim gram sabha headed by Sarpanch Tamica Da Silva constituted a panel led by Donato Da Costa to coordinate the preparation of the draft CZMP, villagers got together on Tuesday to re-draw the plan. Sarpanch Tamica, Deputy Sarpanch Keisar Martins, Panel Chairman Donata and villagers, besides students and representatives of the Citizens of Coastal Communities assisted in the formulation of the plan.
Deputy Sarpanch Keisar informed that the five missing sluice gates have been plotted on the plan, adding that another meeting has been convened on August 29 with the villagers to give final touches before the plan is forwarded to the government.
Martins informed that the students, who were roped in to carry out the exercise, helped to get a factual ground reality on the plan.
Wenzy Viegas, who also assisted the villagers in the re-drafting process, said that certain discrepancies that had cropped up in the draft-CZMP were rectified by the villagers. He further informed that the east side of Zuem island, which was shown as part of Telaulim was redrawn by the villagers and drafted-plotted inside Orlim border.
Meanwhile, a group of Cavelossim villagers went into a huddle on Tuesday as part of the exercise to get the CZMP plan re-drafted.
