Over 100 children from Bogmalo panchayat took part in the first local Bal Gram Sabha, held at the church due to ongoing work at the Panchayat Ghar. The event, aimed at empowering young people, saw active participation from children aged 11 to 18, along with teachers and parents.
Children raised concerns about village issues such as playground upkeep, transport, and road conditions. Experts from education, panchayat administration, and law enforcement spoke at the event, offering helpful advice. The Vasco Traffic Police conducted a road safety session, and Panch Adv. Aishwarya Thorat discussed the Child Protection Act to raise awareness of children’s rights.
Bogmalo Sarpanch Sankalp Mahale highlighted the panchayat’s commitment to considering the children’s suggestions. He emphasised that this was the first-ever Bal Gram Sabha in the panchayat’s history, and assured that the children’s input will shape a future development plan. The event was a key step towards involving young people in local governance and addressing their concerns.
