Cong says govt exposed on Bhutani, DLF projects

PANAJI

The Congress on Sunday hit out at the Pramod Sawant government saying it stands exposed on the controversy related to clearances to the two big ticket projects -- Bhutani at Sancoale and DLF at Reis Magos.

GPCC vice-president Sunil Khautankar said the Reis Magos hill has been devastated by the proposed DLF project and there are several other projects approved, some in eco-sensitive zones which will completely destroy the State.

“This BJP government is hell bent on ensuring the destruction of Goa,” Khautankar said while addressing a press conference along with party spokesman Tulio D’Souza and North Goa Distrtict Congress president, Virendra Shirodkar.

Khautankar said the turmoil witnessed over the last few days with locals protesting over these projects has exposed the Sawant-led government’s acts of ommissions and commissions in granting them clearances, some even in eco-sensitive areas.

D’Souza said all these projects and others approved by the Investment Promotion Board must be immediately stalled to save whatever is left of Goa and its environment.

“The moot purpose of this press conference is to warn this government on behalf of Goans that these projects must be stalled,” D’Souza said.
