The campus of Government High School at Agarwada in Pernem has fallen into a neglected state, with overgrown bushes, accumulated garbage and waste dumping creating unhygienic conditions and raising concerns over the safety of students and staff.

Residents, parents and teachers said the condition of the school has deteriorated over time, alleging that the campus has not been properly maintained. Thick vegetation, scattered waste and cow dung on the playground have made the premises unsanitary and unsuitable for students.

Locals also pointed out that the playground, which is used by students for sports and other activities, is in poor condition and requires immediate restoration.

Apart from sanitation concerns, residents warned that the overgrown bushes and accumulated dry waste pose a potential fire hazard. They said that if a fire were to break out on the campus, it could spread rapidly and endanger students, teachers and school property.

Locals have urged the Education Department and the concerned authorities to immediately clear the garbage, trim the overgrown vegetation, restore the playground and ensure regular maintenance of the school premises.
