Parents of students at the Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) in Sanguem have requested authorities to consider Sanguem as an additional centre for the forthcoming HSSC exams.
The GHSS PTA Chairperson Rajani Gaonkar said the students from Sanguem region and those studying at GHSSS Sanguem are compelled to travel a long distance to answer their exams.
Parents informed that the GHSS Sanguem has an enrolment of 150 students in Class XII and these students have to travel to Curchorem to answer their exams, leaving them tired before they even reach the examination centre.
“A student travelling from Netravali has to cover over 37 kms to reach the examination centre and the plight of other students travelling from Bhati, Kalay and Villian villages is no different,” complained a parent.
The parents informed that these students, on reaching home after answering their exams, are tired and cannot concentrate on their exam the next day.
The parents have requested the education department to consider their demands to set up an examination centre at Sanguem for Class XII students, as has been done for the SSCE exams.
