Repair work on old water pipelines has left Bicholim and surrounding areas without water supply since the last two days.
Elected representatives and activists have been busy making arrangements to provide water supply to the affected people through tankers.
When contacted, water supply officials said the department has issued a notice stating that water supply has been affected and repair work is in progress.
Bicholim MLA Dr Chandrakant Shetye said he has been closely monitoring the situation to ensure that repair work is completed at the earliest and water supply is restored. “The channels have been dilapidated in many areas and there is a need to undertake work to lay new water channels. Approvals have been received in some places,” he said.
He has directed the Department of Water Resources to supply water in tankers to the places affected by the disruption in water supply.
Efforts are on to complete the repair work and restore water supply by Friday.
