Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is the 13th richest Chief Minister among 31 Chief Ministers of 29 states and two union territories when graded on his total assets with his assets totalling around Rs 6 crore.
A comparative study by the Association for Democratic Reforms which examined the statements of assets and liabilities filed before the Election Commission prior to being elected has thrown up Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu with assets worth Rs 177 crore as the richest chief minister in the country.
Parrikar with moveable assets of Rs 2,71,71,513 (Rs 2.71 crore) and immoveable assets of Rs 3,58,12,500 (Rs 3.58 crore) has his total assets pegged at Rs 6,29,84,013 (Rs 6.30 crore).
This places him above Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) & National Election Watch (NEW) have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of current Chief Ministers in State Assemblies and Union Territories across the nation.
Parrikar’s assets place him above the likes of Shivraj Singh Chouhan of MP, Vasundhara Raje of Rajasthan, Devendra Fadnavis of Maharashtra, Nitish Kumar of Bihar, Yogi Adityanath of UP, Manohar Lal Khattar of Haryana among BJP chief ministers of large states.
The study revealed that the average of assets per Chief Minister from state assemblies and union territories is Rs 16.18 crore. Besides this, out of the 31 Chief Ministers of State Assemblies and Union Territories analysed, 25 (81%) are crorepatis.
