Parts of Cumbarjua constituency received water on Friday, bringing relief to the areas where water was released.
However, some parts continued to rely on water tankers and wells to meet their requirements as supply was yet to resume in their areas.
Speaking to The Goan, Carambolim Sarpanch Uttam Murgaonkar informed that till late Friday night, water supply in his area near the panchayat was not resumed.
But panch Sunil Naik informed that supply in his ward was resumed with muddy water flowing from the taps.
“People have to bear the inconvenience for a while before clean water is supplied,” Naik added.
In Corlim, it was the same scenario as Sarpanch Shiva Naik informed that water supply was resumed in his area whereas in other parts, the villagers informed that water supply was yet to resume.
Speaking to The Goan, a local Tome de Souza from Mollar II informed that in their colony there are 230 apartments which have not received water supply as yet.
Same was the case at Mollar where a local, Richard Pereira, informed that in their area too, water supply did not resume.
In Old Goa, it was the same case as some parts received water while others did not.
Speaking to The Goan, a local Sandesh Mashelkar informed that water was released at 5.30 pm and stopped at 6.30 pm.
“Initially the water was muddy but later clear water flowed from the taps,” Mashelkar informed.
However, Old Goa panch Vishal Volvoikar informed that only parts of Old Goa village received water supply while the remaining areas would receive water supply only on Saturday morning.
In St Estevam, Deputy Sarpanch Chiara Gomes informed that water was released in the village at 1.30 pm. But in Cumbarjua, Sarpanch Nishita Gawde informed that till late night water in her village was yet to be released.
In Sao Mathias-Divar too, Sarpanch Sadanand Phadte informed that water was not released on Friday, with the PWD staff informing that it would be released only on Saturday.
When questioned on the reasons for the non-resumption of water supply in some areas of Cumbarjua constituency, a PWD official informed that water has to be released at low pressure initially, which will be gradually increased in the coming days. “It cannot be released at high pressure as there is vacuum inside, which could lead to bursting of the pipelines if water is released at high pressure,” the official informed while stating that it would take around 3-4 days for water to reach all areas.
