PORVORIM
The villagers of Penha de Franca at the gram sabha held on Sunday have condemned the statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Karnataka on Saturday that the Mhadei issue has been resolved. They have unanimously adopted a resolution objecting to the same and to be forwarded to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Other issues discussed at the gram sabha were shortage of water, illegal constructions, mobile towers, kiosks at Malim, thefts, etc.
A member Ganpat Siddhaye mentioned that Porvorim has started experiencing water shortage these days. Hence panchayat should be more careful while issuing construction licences to new housing projects. They should inform the Town and Country Planning Department that the latter should not approve residential projects in Penha de Franca area without the consent of the panchayat.
Another member Agnel Pereira mentioned that as per collectors orders the scrapyards should not be permitted in residential areas. Inspite of this order how come the panchayat has permitted the scrapyard at Malim, Pereira questioned.
Sarpanch Swapnil Chodankar mentioned that panchayat had given permission to store empty boxes and cartoons and if the said person has converted the same into a scrapyard the panchayat will inspect the same and take necessary action.
The residents of Ward No. 8 have objected to the mobile tower being erected in their area near the forest garden.
