Dabolim Congress leader Viriato Fernandes on Tuesday sought to know who had pressurised the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) to withdraw the show cause notice issued to the Kargwal Construction Private Limited (KCPL) to set up a marina in Nauxim.
Fernandes also warned that people would not keep quiet and never allow the marina project to become a reality.
"It is very disturbing news of a lease granted to KCPL for one square km of water surface at Nauxim issued by MPA in 2010 and the subsequent show cause notice to KCPL has been withdrawn. The lease was given to KCPL in 2010 who failed to submit NOCs and accordingly, MPA had issued a show cause notice and terminated the lease,” said Fernandes.
“We want to know who pressurised the MPA to withdraw the show cause notice. We will not keep quiet, and if need be, we will intervene in the court.”
“Come what may, we will not keep quiet, and we will get the people together, the civil society, NGOs and political parties on one platform to fight this particular project, immaterial of its location at Nauxim, Sancoale or Chicalim," warned Fernandes.
