MARGAO: In an interesting development, Police Inspector Tulsidas Naik has returned as the in-charge of Colva police station, around four years after he briefly held the post before proceeding on leave. Naik’s transfer and posting as Colva police station in-charge fills the vacancy created after then PI Videsh Shirodkar was transferred to the South Goa police line department last month. Naik’s return to Colva assumes significance as he had earlier taken charge of the police station in July 2022 but proceeded on leave immediately after assuming office.
To break the deadlock, the Goa Police Department had transferred then Margao police station in-charge PI Filomena Costa to Colva, while moving Naik to Margao police station. Both Costa and Naik were transferred and posted at the Margao and Colva police stations respectively in July 2022, ahead of the panchayat elections. While Naik has now returned to Colva police station after four years, the reasons behind his decision to proceed on leave immediately after taking charge in July 2022 remain unclear.
