Nuvem MLA says people of his constituency have to travel far

MARGAO
Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa has made a plea to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to set up a Primary Health Centre at Majorda in the old age home, which has been recently converted into a Covid care centre.
The request was made by the Nuvem MLA during the visit of the Chief Minister to the Majorda Covid care centre to inspect and oversee the arrangements put in place for patients.
During discussions, the Nuvem MLA pointed out that a Primary Health Centre at Majorda with bed facility will go a long way in meeting the health and medical requirements of the people of Nuvem constituency.
He pointed out that a PHC exists in Loutolim village, which is part of Nuvem constituency, but he hastened to add that the centre is far away from the villages of Majorda, Betalbatim Verna and Nuvem.
“The Chief Minister has evinced interest in my proposal to set up a PHC at Majorda in the old age home building, which is being renovated and refurbished by the GSIDC by spending over Rs one crore,” he said.
D’Sa added: “A PHC at Majorda will cater to the needs of the neighbouring villages of Betalbatim, Nuvem and Verna. People need not go to the Cansaulim or Loutolim PHCs in the future”.
The Old age home building is presently being used to house Covid care patients as the inmates from the old age home have been shifted to Loutolim.
