All 10 councillors of Pernem Municipal Council (PMC) led by chairperson Usha Nagvekar on Tuesday met newly elected Pernem MLA Praveen Arlekar and appealed to him to promote development in the municipality through the State government.
Nagvekar, Deputy Chairperson Siddhesh Pednekar, Madhav Sinai Desai, Manoj Harmalkar, Shivram Tukoji, Ashwini Palienkar, Trupti Sawal Desai and Vishakha Gadekar also discussed the various issues confronting the municipal council.
Arlekar later said he would try his best to get the work done.
“My priority will be to expedite work on the new municipal building and to shift the Pernem bazaar into a full-fledged market complex," said Arlekar.
"I will also stress on improving electricity, water and roads in the constituency. I will seek information on pending projects and only after a detailed study, I will make efforts with the government to complete them.”
Nagvekar told reporters that the councillors had met newly elected MLA Praveen Arlekar to congratulate him on his victory and to kept him abreast of present issues and proposed projects in Pernem municipality.
