Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) leader Sudin Dhavalikar said the Postal Ballot procedures should be changed as there are chances that government servants eligible to exercise their franchise through Postal Ballot could be pressured or influenced to vote for a particular candidate.
Addressing a news conference, Dhavalikar said, “There should be one EVM kept on two specific days in every constituency exclusively for government servants, who were on duty on polling days. Some candidates are contacting government servants and pressurising them for postal ballot votes.”
Meanwhile, MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar on Thursday considered the health minister as the most suitable candidate for the chief minister’s post among the BJP leaders.
He also felt Nilesh Cabral could also be “Chief Minister material”.
Dhavalikar, however, said conclusions should not be drawn by anyone on his statements regarding the health minister, as a decision on which party to support post elections will be taken jointly by the MGP and TCM executive committees.
“In the BJP party, the health minister is the most suitable for the CM’s post and there is no one on his level in the BJP. Nilesh Cabral is also CM material in the BJP,” said Dhavalikar.
When asked if he had any meeting with the health minister, Dhavalikar said: “I have had good relations with him for many years and I have conversations with him every few days.”
