Uprooting of trees, lightning strikes, water-logging and power outages were the order of the day in many parts of Bardez taluka, causing some damage to property.
Strong pre-monsoon showers led to water entering many shops and flooding of roads. Several parts of the taluka were plunged in darkness for nearly four hours.
In Mapusa, water accumulated on the road leading to the Joma Parlour, while a tree came crashing down on a house belonging to Ballal Apte at Shirsatwada-Mapusa.
At Moira, a tree uprooted and fell on the shop of Anant Aroskar, while at Verem trees fell on the compound walls belonging to Kashinath Mandrekar and Shubhash Parulekar.
Lightning struck a house belonging to Tom D'Cruz in Aldona, damaging electricity cables, other electronic items and some walls of the house.
Another lightning bolt struck the Nachinola electricity sub-division and the entire constituency of Aldona was plunged into darkness.
Power outages were also witnessed in Mapusa city, Siolim, Calangute, Siolim, Tivim and Porvorim for nearly four hours on Monday night.
The proposed Mapusa bus stand turned mucky following heavy rains, making it difficult for buses and other vehicles parked in the area.
