The PWD finally set in motion and began repairing dilapidated roads in Curchorem which posed a danger due to ongoing sewage works.

The roads in the market area and the main Curchorem road proceeding to Sanguem were dug several months ago for sewage works but were not repaired, thereby putting motorists at risk while using the potholed roads.

While the government had assured to make roads potholed-free in Goa before Ganesh Chaturthi, the promise failed to materialise in Curchorem.

This prompted a group of concerned citizens from Sanguem to submit a representation to Quepem deputy collector Quepem demanding repair of roads considering the safety of road users.

Earlier last week, Congress leaders from Curchorem led by GPCC President Amit Patkar had protested over the bad roads in Curchorem and had repaired a portion of the road by filling the potholes with mud and later covering it with cow dung.
