PANAJI: Financial approvals to the tune of Rs 7.67 crore were received for works taken up for the Department of Panchayats under the Deendayal Infrastructure Development Scheme during the financial year 2015-16.
Works such as construction of Panchayat ghar, ground and multipurpose building complex feature in the list of infrastructure created under the Scheme, which has been actively implemented since 2013.
It was informed that of the Rs 7.67 crore approved, Rs 3.67 crore has been disbursed to Goa State Infrastructure Development Authority for ongoing works within the jurisdiction of Kri-Tiracol, Tuem and Mandrem panchayats, all of which fall in Pernem taluka.
The remainder of Rs four crore has been approved for works undertaken by Goa Tourism Development Corporation.
Almost 51 projects to the tune of Rs 80 crore are in the pipeline under the scheme, which has been allotted Rs 30 crore in the 2015-16 budget. These works will be taken up according to budgetary allocations under the Scheme each year.
Of these, 51 works which are on the cards, 33 works are being planned by GSIDC while six will be taken up by GTDC.
In addition to this, it was learnt that GTDC has also served a bill of Rs 9.40 crore with the request for payment of 30 per cent of the amount. This bill encompasses five projects completed in Panchayat of Anjuna-Caisua, Pilerne-Marra, Siolim, Sangolda and Marla-Canca.
