Rachol seminarians put on a show for Seminary Day

The Patriarchal Seminary of Rachol organized its Seminary Day on at the Rachol Seminary auditorium 

on Sunday.  

Archbishop-Patriarch Filipe Neri Ferrao presided over the proceedings, while the chief guest was Jose Manuel Noronha, chairman of the Goa Public Service Commission and Dr Mavis Faleiro was the guest of honour. Several guests, friends, relatives and well-wishers of the seminary were present at the event and they were welcomed by Rachol Seminary Rector 

Dr Alexio Menezes.  

The day showcased the musical and theatrical talents of the seminarians. The programme included an orchestral performance of ‘Marsch D-Dur/2 by W A Mozart KV408’ and the music was arranged by Fr Simon D’Cunha. The orchestra comprised seminarians and priests playing variety of string and brass musical instruments.  

The Seminarians also put up an English play, ‘Devil of a Mess’, performed a brass ensemble, ‘Fanfare’of Michel Corrette, an English choral ‘Deep River’ by Robert Nathaniel Dett, a Konkani choral Mestri Muzg Xikoita, presented by the Santa Cecilia choir of the seminary and ‘Spiegel canon’ violin duet presented by two seminarians.  

The highlight of the program was the Konkani musical ‘Ek Jinn Konvchechi’ (A Brittle Life), depicting the vulnerable life of migrants in Goa.   

Archbishop Ferrao then released the annual seminary magazine ‘Luceas’, and he addressed the gathering. Meritorious seminarians who excelled in the last academic year were then felicitated for their academic performance. The program drew to a close with the singing of the seminary anthem.
