VASCO: Admitting a delay in procurement of raincoats for his staff, PWD Assistant Engineer Vishwambar Bhende was hopeful of making the raincoats available within the next two weeks.
“A file has to be prepared for all procurement and unless the expenditure sanction is approved by the govt, the executive engineer cannot place orders,” explained Bhende.
Informing that the file has been sent to the department, Bhende added: “There were certain queries raised by the department, which have been complied with and all formalities are completed.”
“Names of staff belonging to the PWD workers society have been submitted to the society. They will receive raincoat in a week’s time. Besides, we also have work charge staff working on the field. The procedure for their raincoats is also done and only when the expenditure sanction is granted, we can place the order for raincoats.”
“We place the orders from Marketing Federation, from where we get raincoats directly and within the next 10-12 days we will be able to provide the work charge staff with raincoats,” said Bhende.
Bhende said he had personally followed up in the matter.
“I got the file from Panaji and replied to all the queries. I have also enquired that the file is at present in the Margao office and I will personally take the file from Margao to Panaji on Wednesday to ensure that the staff get raincoats as soon as possible,” Bhende said.
