Aam Admi Party on Tuesday through an agitation at Azad Maidan here condemned the statement made by Senior Congress leader Pratapsingh Rane that Goans abroad do toilet cleaning jobs.

While speaking in the Legislative Assembly last week, Rane had said that Goans who work abroad do toilet cleaning jobs.

Condemning Rane’s statement AAP Goa state convener Elvis Gomes said that Pratapsingh Rane was CM of Goa for a longer period. All governments have failed to create Jobs in Goa. That is why Goans are forced to go out of Goa for jobs. In this situation making statements against Goans is condemnable, added Gomes.

Pratapsingh Rane’s own Congress Party has already distanced itself from his statement.

Goa Pradesh Congress Party President Girish Chodankar has said that speaking disrespectfully about any profession or person is fundamentally against the philosophy and the idea of Congress and therefore the statement was unnecessary and incorrect.

Meanwhile members of Goa Mining People Front who are agitating at Azad Maidan for last few months demanding the resumption of mining have said that the statement made by Pratapsingh Rane was misquoted.

Devandnad Parab of GoMPF said that Rane has voiciferously supported the resumption of mining in the state so that Goans will get jobs. His statement should not be taken in wrong sense.
