Rangnath elected in Moira

MAPUSA: Rangnath Belekar has been elected the new panch of Moira Panchayat.
In the by-election to Ward 3 of Moira Panchayat on Monday, Belekar polled 143 votes. The other contestants, Rupesh Naik got 95 votes, Sunil Chari (47), Rohida Shirodkar (46), Kailash Parab (45) and Pravin Shirodkar (24).
The post had fallen vacant after former panch Raghuvir Bagkar resigned after securing a government job.
In the by-election on Sunday, out of the 552 voters, 404 had voted, registering polling percentage of 77 percent.
The returning officer Mamlatdar Madhu Narvekar declared Rangnath Belekar elected as new panch.
