Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Shantaram Naik has stated that the criminal case, in which National president of BJP Amit Shah was one of the accused, should be re-opened in view of the press conference held by the four judges of Supreme Court.
Naik also voiced support for reopening of special CBI investigation judge Brijgopal Harkishen Loya death case. Judge Loya was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Nagpur on December 1, 2014.
"The judge who took over the case, subsequently, within 29 days of the death of judge Loya, discharged Amit Shah from the case, accepting an application filed by him, that he was involved by CBI for political reasons?" Naik questioned.
Naik said that in spite of the fact that a serious charge was made against CBI, the agency did not file appeal against the same. "Family members of judge Loya were scared to make any statement for
fear of their lives", Naik opined.
Commenting on the views and worries expressed by the four topmost SC judges, Naik called for transparency in the administrative mechanism of SC and in the actions of the Chief Justice of India.
Naik stated that the SC will serve the society ideally, if they pay the attention towards 58,438 cases pending before them and 38.70 lakh cases pending in High Courts.
