Cortalim MLA Anton Vas on Thursday assured to take up the issues of power, roads and water supply as his top priority as MLA of Cortalim constituency.

Vas was speaking to reporters after inaugurating the work to widen and hotmix the road near Shantadurga Temple in the presence of Sancoale Panch Tulshidas Naik and other local residents.

"The estimate cost of the 2.5 km road project is around Rs 65 lakh. People earlier faced a lot of inconvenience but the issue has now been resolved and I will ensure that all internal roads across the constituency are hotmixed at the earliest with the help of the government," said Vas.

"I have a lot of plans for the people who have got me elected as an independent candidate despite having candidates from other mainstream national parties. I have a lot of plans for the people but I will take up issues like water supply and power supply, besides street lights," said Vas.

Ward panch Tulshidas Naik said widening of the road between the temple and old Sancoale panchayat had been pending for over 40 years.

"We have now widened the road by one meter and we have also extended the road shoulders, besides hotmixing the stretch of the road. The road has become a busy road and is largely used by people during traffic jams at Cortalim.”

“We are glad that our MLA Anton Vas has extended support to the BJP government and we hope that the government gives him a prominent position in the government," said Naik.
