According to the Calangute Police, the accused, identified as Avinash Singh, has been booked under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for outraging the modesty of a woman.
After his arrest, he was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), who remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody.
Police said the alleged incident took place near Porbawaddo, where the complainant claimed the accused made inappropriate physical contact with her.
Based on her complaint, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered and an investigation was launched.
A police officer said the accused was taken into custody soon after the complaint was lodged. Police are recording witness statements and collecting evidence related to the case.
“The investigation is in progress and all aspects of the complaint are being examined,” the officer said.
Further investigation is being carried out by the Calangute Police.
