The internal crisis in the Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) showed no signs of easing on Thursday, with fresh allegations being levelled against its lone MLA, Viresh Borkar.
RGP treasurer Ajay Kholkar launched a strong attack on Borkar, accusing him of being a habitual liar.
“Lying has become a habit for him,” Kholkar told reporters.
He said Borkar attended the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting despite publicly announcing that he would boycott it in protest.
“He says one thing and does another,” Kholkar alleged.
The ongoing differences within the fledgling regional party have already led to the exit of its former president Manoj Parab, who was referred to as the party’s ‘supremo’. Parab stepped down from the post and also announced his decision to
quit politics.
While Kholkar maintained that the RGP remained united, he accused Borkar of continuing to associate with people who have been formally expelled from the party.
The latest war of words highlights the continuing rift between the MLA and other party office-bearers, keeping the internal tensions alive months before the next State Assembly election.
