Rider snatches gold chains from Israeli woman in Patnem

CANACONA

An unidentified man on a two-wheeler allegedly snatched two gold chains worth about Rs 1.35 lakh from an Israeli woman while she was walking along the Patnem road in Canacona.

According to Canacona police, the incident occurred on Thursday evening, January 22, 2026, at around 3.30 pm. The victim, Noa Svotisky, an Israeli national residing at Patnem, was walking towards her rented room at Casa Beach Hut Resort when the incident took place.

Police said the accused, riding a motorcycle and wearing a yellow T-shirt, snatched two gold chains weighing around 10 grams from her neck and fled from the spot.

A case has been registered at the Canacona police station under Section 304(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Ajit Velip.
