Work of around Rs 14 crores has been proposed and sent for financial approval for repair of sluice gates (bundhs) in Aldona which were neglected for the last so many years, said Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo and assured to get the work orders before the approaching elections.
Ticlo also said, on Saturday, that an estimate of Rs 120 crore for underground cabling has already been prepared by the power department but the work will be taken up in his next tenure after the 2022 assembly elections.
He further disclosed that he had work orders of around Rs 20 crore mostly concerning road works, which will be taken up soon after the monsoon.
“Our bundhs have been neglected for the last 40 years. The dilapidated bundhs have discouraged farmers from cultivating the fields. I have repaired a lot of such bundhs during my first and the second tenure. Five files “ one each in Moira, Corjuem and other areas “ amounting to almost Rs 14 crore is before the CM for financial approval. We will get the work order before the elections,” Ticlo said.
The Aldona MLA was speaking to journalists at the sidelines of a function to inaugurate the Ganesh visarjan platform and shed in Aldona.
Continuing, Ticlo informed that the estimate of around Rs 120 crore for underground cabling of the entire Aldona constituency has already been prepared and is waiting for financial sanction.
“The file has been processed but actual work on the project will be taken up only in the next tenure. As per the project report all overhead 11 KV power cables will be pushed underground. Once this is done almost 90 per cent of the power problem in the constituency will be resolved,” he said.
He said a lot of work has already been done but some got bogged down because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“Road and water works have been done. The 33 KV power cable from Tivim to Nachinola substation has also been laid,” Ticlo said and assured to repair the main road soon after the monsoon.
