Urban Development Minister Milind Naik on Monday said the widening of the 7-km Sada Baina road, taken up at a cost of Rs 35 crore, is likely to be completed by December end.
“There is a major project in Mormugao constituency which had been delayed for some time for various reasons, including the contractor issues. However, we have planned these works systematically and we also had a meeting with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant three months ago, after which the works are being taken on full swing now,” Naik told reporters.
“This road widening project includes all the roads from Sada till Baina, drainage works and also a retaining wall from El Monte theatre to Sada. The widened roads will also see the shoulders pavered as well,” said Naik.
“This project is being taken up at a cost of around Rs 35 crore and since most works like trenches are ready, we had already put one coat of hot-mixing at some places before monsoons.”
The minister said the hot-mix plant will start after monsoons and the contractor has already booked the plant for this project. “Works like carpeting of roads are likely to be completed by December.”
