Alert locals nab 2 persons at ATM

Alert locals of Vasco on Monday nabbed two persons who were trying to flee after robbing the ATM card of a woman at the ATM of a nationalised bank in Vasco on Monday afternoon.

According to an eyewitness, two persons stood behind a woman who was withdrawing money from the bank’s ATM.

“The persons were standing behind the woman and may have probably noted her ATM PIN. While the woman was withdrawing cash and waiting to remove the money from the machine, the persons snatched her ATM card and tried to snatch the money.”

“Even though the two persons tried to intimidate the woman, she screamed for help. With the noise, people coming towards the ATM and the men fled from the site with her ATM card,” said the eyewitness.

A group of locals then chased the persons and nabbed both of them. They were allegedly given a thrashing and taken back to the bank premises, before handing them to the police.

Vasco police arrived at the site and took custody of the two accused, identified as Ravi Hosiyar Singh (30) of Sultanpur-Delhi and Ankur Ramesh Kumar (23) of Hisar-Haryana. They have been arrested under Sections 379, 511 read with 34 IPC. Vasco PSI Amaranth Passi is investigating the case.
