Stating that Congress is strong enough to contest the elections on its own, the Saligao Block Congress opposed any alliance with “traitors” who snatched the peoples mandate in the last elections even as the State Congress chief assured not to part away Saligao as an alliance seat.
In a meeting attended by senior party leaders, the Saligao Block Congress unanimously resolved to work unitedly for the party.
“Congress is strong enough to contest the elections on its own and therefore oppose any alliance with the traitors of the peoples mandate after the last elections,” the resolution passed by the block read.
Apart from GPCC President Girish Chodankar, Congress General Secretary Agnelo Fernandes, Yatish Naik, Spokesperson Tulio De Souza, North Goa District President Vijay Bhike and others were present for the meeting.
Addressing the party functionaries in Saligao, GPCC President Girish Chodankar said tireless work of the Saligaon Block Congress under the leadership of Block President Atul Naik and active participation of all members has helped to strengthen Congress at the booth level in Saligao.
He said Congress workers must start a campaign and inform the people how a directionless BJP government has failed in giving employment to the youth resulting in record rise of 35 percent of unemployment in Goa.
He further said the State government was responsible for the death of more than 3,000 innocent Goans due to corruption and gross mismanagement of the Covid pandemic.
North Goa District President Vijay Bhike said that Congress was becoming stronger day by day with many leaders joining the party.
Yatish Naik opined that there should be no alliance and the Congress should declare its candidates early and to allow them to reach out to people.
Congress Spokesperson Tulio de Souza appealed to all to work unitedly to ensure the victory of Congress. District Vice Presidents Virendra Shirodkar and Bholanath Ghadi, Seva Dal Convenor Shankar Kirlaparkar, Mahila President Sonal Malvankar, Youth President Chandrakant Mandrekar and others were also present for the meeting.
