Speaker Pramod Sawant who attended the met with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Saturday and sought his intervention to resolve the fish trade imbroglio.
“The fishing industry is totally disturbed. I told the CM in the meeting today to intervene in the fish issue for a solution,” Sawant told the media.
“Fish export too has stopped. Daily lakhs of rupees of business is stopped,” Sawant said, highlighting the urgency to resolve the issues related to the trade.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, who incidentally did not attend the BJP MLAs’ meeting with the Chief Minister, meanwhile, said that the Speaker’s views regarding the fish import ban are not binding on him.
