No ministerial berth, Michael contacts Vijai

Michaelbab Lobo was holed up abroad when Manoharbhai Parrikar effected changes in his Cabinet. When he found no place in the Cabinet, with Manoharbhai handpicking Nileshbab Cabral and Milindbab Naik as replacement for the ailing Francisbab D’Souza and Pandurangbab Madkaikar, Michaelbab is believed to have called up his close friend from Saxttidom and G-6 leader Vijaibab Sardesai. What transpired between the duo over the phone remains unclear, but sources in the know say that the Goa Forward supremo was believed to have advised Michaelbab to remain cool and calm, promising to find a way out for his issues after his return home from abroad. What exactly did Michaelbab discuss with Vijaibab remains unknown. Wait and watch as the Deputy Speaker is scheduled to return home soon.

Prasad quits, Vijai sounds caution

Hazard a guess what had prompted the all-powerful G-6 leader Vijaibab Sardesai to sound caution to the saffron brigade after Prasadbab Gaonkar quit the Forest Corporation? Vijaibab was upset that the saffron brigade did not pay heed to his request to allot Prasadbab the GTDC chairmanship. The moot question, however, remains unanswered “ whether the Goa Forward supremo was unhappy with the way the BJP high command took the decision replacing the ailing Madkaikar and Babush and ignore Prasadbab’s claim on GTDC. Sources said Vijaibab seems to have absolutely no issues with Manoharbhai. But, is Vijaibab unhappy with the saffron brigade’s high command. Wait and watch.

Will Sanguem MLA receive his ‘prasad’?

Will Sanguem MLA Prasadbab Gaonkar ever receive the promised “Prasad” from the saffron brigade for supporting the coalition government? This question did the rounds in political circles after the first-time Independent MLA quit the chairmanship of Forest Corporation as a protest after the saffron brigade ignored his claim over the GTDC chairmanship. When the BJP central observers had descended in the State over a fortnight ago, they had promised the Sanguem MLA that he too would receive some “Prasad” if he continues to support the coalition. Leader of the G-6 has sympathised with Prasadbab Gaonkar. At the same time, however, Vijaibab is aware that the Independent MLA has been equally close to Congress’ Diggu and MGP’s Sudinbab Dhavalikar. Any questions?

Reginaldo sounds ‘warning bell’ to Vijai

Congress MLA Reginaldbab Lourenco’s warning to one-time close friend Vijaibab Sardesai makes reading interesting. That the three-time Curtorim MLA has warned Vijaibab that he will meet a same fate like Ramakantbab Khalap has thrown up a question in the Goa Forward camp and outside, whether Reginaldbab has sounded the caution out of love and concern for the TCP Minister. Or, whether Reginaldbab’s warning was simply a plain message to Vijaibab that he deserves punishment from the saffron brigade for supporting the BJP in forming the coalition government against the mandate of the people of Goa. Is Vijaibab listening to the warning sounded by his friend in the Congress who had got him the Congress ticket in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls?

Battle royale on cards to control GFA

A battle royale to control the GFA (Goa Football Association) seems on the cards between known Saxtti political foes -- Varca strongman Bab Churchill and goalkeeper-turned-politician Avertanbab Furtado. If the duo had fought a political battle on the fertile political plains of Navelim in 2012, both Churchillbab and Avertanbab are bracing up to cross swords again, this time in the sports arena, to exercise control over the apex football body, GFA. While Avertanbab had emerged as a giant killer in 2012 when he had sent Churchillbab packing home, the Varca strongman had avenged his defeat by backing kumpar Luizinhbab to the hilt in the 2017 Assembly election, to cut short Avertanbab’s political innings in Navelim. Just wait and watch, as the process of filing nomination papers is presently underway.
