SC upholds HC order; U’khand rebels told to keep off voting
Sacked Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Monday got a major boost ahead of the confidence vote in the Uttarakhand Assembly today (Tuesday) with the High Court dismissing the petition of nine Congress MLAs challenging their disqualification and the Supreme Court refusing to give any relief to them.

It is advantage Rawat as Justice UC Dhyani of the High Court dismissed two writ petitions filed by the rebel Congress MLAs against the Speaker’s action, holding that by their conduct the lawmakers have “voluntarily given up membership of their political party”, a ground for disqualification under the anti-defection law.
The Goa Lokayukta has issued an order asking that all ‘public functionaries’ file their statement of assets and liabilities for the financial year 2015-16 before June 30 this year.rnPublic functionaries include persons who are or were at any time the Chief Minister or a Minister of the State of Goa or a Member of the Legislative Assembly, the President or the Vice-President or the Chairman or the Vice-Chairman or the Secretary or the Managing Director of government bodies.
