OLD GOA
The Se Old Goa panchayat inspected a project near Monte Chapel on Monday, where it reportedly came to light that construction was done beyond the approved plan.
The panchayat had acted on a complaint from John Mascarenhas and Mariano Ferrao that the height of the building was equivalent to the height of the St Cajetan Church.
“When we went to the Monte Chapel hill, we came to know of the height, and upon inquiry, it was found that there were additional floors constructed to the building as well as the villa,” Mascarenhas informed
The Goan.
Mascarenhas and Ferrao then complained about the matter to the panchayat.
“Today, the inspection was done, and it was found that additional floors have been constructed for the building and the villa. We also brought to the notice of the panchayat authorities the construction of additional basement for the building which also does not reflect in the approved plan,” Mascarenhas further added.
“Also, on the plan, it is clearly shown that the roof has a slope. So, the question arises how the project was given an occupancy certificate by the panchayat when the roof is flat,” Mascarenhas quipped.
On the future course of action, Ferrao said that they are going to oversee the action taken by the panchayat and accordingly chalk out further course of action.
Se Old Goa Sarpanch Medha Parvatkar, Secretary Rupesh Halarnkar, local panch, and panchayat staff were present at the inspection.
