Seminar on concrete technology

PONDA: The Goa Engineering College at Farmagudi-Ponda in collaboration with Government Polytechnic at Bicholim and University of Bath-UK will organise an international conference on advances in Concrete Technology, Materials and Construction Practices (CTMC2016)' at Farmagudi from June 22 to 24.

The conference commemorates the golden jubilee of Goa Engineering College and University of Bath, UK. The event is also an outcome of United Kingdom India Education Research Initiatives (UKIERI) project on 'Development of structural concrete with plastic waste as partial replacement of sand' in operation at Government Polytechnic, Bicholim.

About 10 experts in the field of advanced concrete technology and materials from India and abroad will deliver keynote lectures. Research papers will also be tabled.

More than 150 delegates from India and abroad are expected to attend the event. A technical exhibition will also be organised.

Locals stop prayer service, 5 booked in Mapusa

Mapusa Police booked five persons for unlawful assembly and breach of peace at Altinho, Mapusa, on Sunday. According to sources in Mapusa Police, there was tension at St Sebastian Vaddo, Altinho, when some residents of Deshmukh Arcade Co-op Housing Society Ltd stopped some people, who they alleged were illegally conducting prayer meetings in the basement of the building. On being informed, Mapusa Police rushed to the site and brought the situation under control.
