MARGAO
Margao Civic Chief Damu Shirodkar was the lone Municipal Chairperson from South Goa, who was conspicuous by his presence at the District Planning Committee (DPC) meeting on Wednesday.
He, however, had no idea what the District Planning Committee (DPC) is all about. For, none of the eight Municipal bodies in the South Goa jurisdiction, including the Margao Municipal Council, have submitted the annual Development Plans for consideration of the DPC.
When The Goan questioned him over the delay by the MMC in submitting the development plan to the DPC, Damu had no answer, saying he would find out from the Municipal officials, over the ground reality.
When his attention was drawn to the fact that the every Municipal Council is required to prepare an annual Development Plan every year and submit the same to the DPC for consideration, the MMC Chairperson said he is unaware of the Municipal provision, but assured to check out with the officials back in the civic body.
Damu later told the media that he would put a note to the MMC Chief Officer on why the civic body could not prepare the annual development plan.
