Home appliances in eight houses were damaged on Wednesday morning after a high-tension wire fell on a low-tension wire at Wai Dongar area in Parcem and short-circuited the power meters in the homes.
Locals said electrical equipment like fridges, tube lights, televisions, etc. were destroyed when the incident took place at about 7 am.
Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar along with the electricity department officers visited the homes and took note of the losses. Those meters that were short-circuited would be replaced with new ones. Locals said the electrical wiring in the area is old and needs to be replaced.
